So, yesterday's post was about really scary shows that you can binge-watch over Halloween. But what if you're not into scary shows? Can't watch horror flicks? Don't worry, I've got your back. Here are 3 shows that you can totally enjoy over Halloween.
1. Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Starring Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman, this sitcom about a teen witch who discovers she has magical powers and has to walk the thin line between the human world and the magical world will melt your heart. Being a teenager is already a confusing time in itself, but being a teenager with recently discovered magical powers? That's bound to be interesting. Also, there's a cat but the cat is really just an evil witch who tried to take over the world and he was consequently punished to spend a century as a cat. Teen romance, fantasy, comedy... Sabrina the Teenage Witch has it for you.
2. A Series of Unfortunate Events
I love, love, love this one! Which sounds weird considering the title but it is lovely. The production for this is just top notch. It follows the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, as they try to escape the clutches of the murderous Count Olaf who somehow, questionably, became their guardian after their parents presumably died in a fire that destroyed their home. Count Olaf, played by Neil Patrick Harris, is a horrible person who happens to be witty yet unwitty at the same time. He comes up with sometimes genius, sometimes weird and outlandish plans (that he gets from his failed career as an actor) to steal the Baudelaire fortune ( to advance his dead acting career) but he always gets outdone by the Baudelaire kids who are actual geniuses. There are secret societies and spies involved. The name of the series is an attribute to the series of unfortunate events that befalls the Baudelaire children and those who try to help them.
3. Wizards of Waverly Place
The show that shot Selena Gomez to the limelight. Wizards of Waverly Place is quite delightful to watch. Alex Russo, played by Selena Gomez, is the middle child and a wizard who loves using her magical powers for everything, including the most mundane of tasks, and often to devious means. Her brother Justin, played by David Henrie, is the studious one, and then there's Max, the unassuming one. Unfortunately, only one of the three of them gets to keep their powers and become the family wizard, as per the rules. Magic, wizards, werewolves, vampires, Shakira shows up too... Wizards of Waverly Place is one of the Disney comedy classics.
Bonus: Not a TV show but... Harry Potter
Does Harry Potter need an introduction? Now, now, some may not say that this is a Halloween-appropriate movie but witches, wizards, magic, death eaters, vampires, werewolves... It fits the bill. But Harry Potter is timeless really. And there's 8 of these films. Get a blanket, get comfortable, and tuck yourself in: you're about to watch the boy who lived. And a really badass villain get his ass handed to him by a bunch of teenagers. Who said young people can't change the world?
